This flashy little girl, so named Alexandra for my granddaughter, took the Cat Fancy by
storm this past summer. Soaring out ahead with a huge lead early on in her show career.
At the tender age of four months, Alexis, at her first show was 3rd Best AB Kitten, at
Four and a half months was Best All Breed kitten at Garden State with 126 AB Kittens
present and competing. The first top 15 AB Kitten Show in CFA history. Many more
Best in Shows followed until her Ring Point Average was too high to allow her to
compete in her last two shows.
Alexandra, known as, "The Tail",was a joy to show as she swished her gorgeous red tail
tipped in seal . Full of mischief and with those piercing sapphire blue eyes, combined
with a superior Persian head and snow white coat, Alexis wowed the Judges. One could
hear the whispers from exhibitors, spectators and Judges, "Have your seen the kitten with
the fancy red tail?" Which one," came the reply? "You'll know her when you see her",
was the whispered answer.
It was a fitting climax that when she Granded at the Conestoga Show in Delaware the
beginning of November, it was All Breed Judge, Gary Veach who put her over the top.
Judge Veach had judged her at her first show and encouraged me to take Alexis National.
Wherever we traveled, Alexandra made new and devoted friends among not only the
Judges, but the many breeders who came to handle her. All who saw her, loved her.
For myself, it was the kind of competition one only dreams about. The new friends made
it so special as we held our collective breaths when Finals were announced. The funny
times will always be remembered with fondness and pleasure.
God willing, when Alexandra becomes a fUll fledged adult, she will be bred to GR NW
Playwickey's Flirty Flirty Eyes. This will be an exciting time here at Playwickey and I
shall keep you updated.
Born in mid December 2001, a daughter, sired by GC NW Playwickey's Flirty Flirty
Eyes. Alexandra is an excellent Mother and has adopted a blue tabby CPC male owned
by Dea Jumper whose mother cat had nine babies, six surviving. One other, a brown
tabby CPC male is being raised by CH Playwickey's Bright April who has only one baby
of her own.
Alexandra is now a retired Premier and is owned and beloved by CFA Judge Al Lunde and his wife, Claire. For those reading this, Clare and Al were long time Himalayan pioneers and had the famous Tailspin Cattery. We have remained close friends over the years and when Al came to me for a kitten, I knew that he would only want my best. Since I had no kittens to equal Alexandra, they decided to take her home with them. I understand that Alexandra has become the love of their household and this pleases me greatly. It is the truly good families that own our precious babies that are most important.
On an interesting note, Alexandra had only one baby sired by Flirty, Playwickey's Tisha and in turn had only one baby of her own, CH Jaemak's Ginger of Playwickey, TLP. This little girl, bred to Philly Fanatic, surprised us by delivering with no trouble at all, on May 21, 2004, seven healthy living kittens: Playwickey's Presidential Seal, SPM, Playwickey's Cisco Kid, SPM, Playwickey's Thunderdel, FPM, Playwickey's Let Freedom Ring, SLPM, Playwickey's Coming Up Roses, FPF, Playwickey's First Lady, TLPF and Playwickey's Victory, TLPF. At the time of this writing, they are thirteen weeks old.
