Hello, and welcome to Playwickey Cattery where the Persian is King of the Castle. While I am a relatively new comer to the Pointed Persian, having only been breeding them since 1991, I have on the other hand been a Persian breeder since 1968.
My husband, Bruce, The Long Suffering, and I attended a cat show in March of 1962 and I promptly fell in love with the Brown and Silver Tabbies of Minqua Cattery, owned by Jane and Tom Martinke. Through knowing them, I purchased a male brownie kitten, Cookie and promptly began to show him when he was eight months old. Lo and behold at his second show, in CFF he made a Best Novice win. That was all I needed and I was off and running. I showed Cookie, to Champion in CFA, to Grand in CFF and ACA. I had a Double Grand and thought he was the greatest cat in the world because I loved him!
It did not take long to realize that Cookie was not going to be the Sire of Grands and that I had better put together a stronger breeding program. Cookie's breeder, Dr. Judith Stoyle and I purchased a blue Champion son of the famous, Voo Doo and a color bred Wimauma blue pair of litter mates, Minerva and George who were sired by the very famous GC Wimauma Heritage. With the heavy type of the solid Persians, Grands began to happen.
As time went fleeting by, our children were growing up in a household where Mother was not always there and I had to take some time off to deal with an adolescent daughter who was having an identity problem. Fortunately, she finally went off to college and into the job market and I could begin to devote myself again to my first love, cats.
As so often happens in one's life, a road is opened and if one is adventurous enough and aware of what can be, then that road will lead to an entirely new concept. Old friend and fellow show goer, Ann Sones of Myshadows Cattery decided to go out of Himalayans, (she had been a long time pioneer) and to devote herself to Bi-colors and related Persians. Thus, I was able to purchase from a top Himmie breeder, three lovely breeding females. With the lease of a fine Callyn Red Tabby CPC male, Playwickey Himmies began.
Help with finding the right breeding stock was easy when one has entre to the finest catteries that breed the Pointed Persian. Several stud services from Barbara Norris-Eckerle, Demiara, the purchase of GC Demiara's Sweet Talk of Playwickey, Seal Point Male and CH Twinshire Hot Digitty of Playwickey, a Red CPC son of the well known, Hooley Booley. The combination of these cats with the Myshadows girls have down the line produced many grands. We here at Playwickey believe in the Golden Rule of do unto others as you would have them to unto you. Nothing leaves here that is not in perfect show condition. Whether it is a lowly little pet kitten to the finest show kitten. We keep all our cats in full coat at all times. When one walks in the front door of our home, these beautiful cats and kittens actually float to our guests. We believe that a friendly, well adjusted kitten is a must. For any newbies reading this welcome letter that could use a helping hand, I have written and published in the Himalayan Manual, put out by the Atlantic Himalayan Club, the how to entitled "Pre-Natal Counselling, Pregnancy, Birth to Twelve Weeks". This is available from Persian News and Atlantic Himalayan Club.
I hope you will browse through our pages and enjoy our beautiful, greatly loved cats.
We have from time to time for sale, kittens of admirable quality to homes of cat loving, serious people. Once a Playwickey kitten is in it's new home, I the breeder will be at your beck and call twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty five days of the year and for as long as that cat is living, it will be one of my babies.
